5 Content Ideas To Help Your Audience of Postpartum Moms Thrive

Does your business help postpartum moms?

Let me guess…

One of your deepest desires is to see postpartum women thrive instead of only surviving.

Because let’s be honest: Most postpartum women just survive.

Oh, childbirth…

One of the few physical experiences that changes you forever. Leaving you with internal wounds that take longer to heal than anyone expects.

Usually, it takes months for this internal wound to fully heal. Sometimes longer.

This is paired with…

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Lack of support

  • A baby’s daily needs

  • Big emotions

All of these aspects of the postpartum journey are exactly why your company exists. It is your deepest desire to help women during the postpartum season and beyond.

Maybe you’re a mom too, and you remember how hard it was to survive postpartum… especially the first time.

So, you made it your mission to create a product or service that directly helps moms.

And here’s the absolute truth you already know…

Just because many women give birth doesn’t mean it’s easy.

But a lot of people write off childbirth and the postpartum season as something that women just "go through..."

Not understanding how life-changing it is.

Our society likes to sweep postpartum women’s needs and feelings under the rug. But thankfully, because of companies like yours...

More people are learning that postpartum women need support, extra patience, and understanding. So, thank you. Your company is making a difference.

And as your company continues to make a difference in helping postpartum women thrive…

I know you’re continually on the hunt for fresh, relevant content for your business.

So, I’m here to help with that.

That's why I’ve come up with a few idea "buckets" for your business' content.

These are possible ideas you could write for your postpartum women audience.

Self - Care

I know, I know…

More about postpartum self-care. Well.. did you know that it’s okay to keep talking about a subject that’s relevant?

You might be writing content that repeats itself…

And that is okay! It’s more than okay.

Here’s why:

Did you know that 47% of buyers interact with 3 to 5 pieces of content before engaging with a sale?¹ (If you didn’t catch it— that’s almost half of consumers).

So, if you think you’ve touched on self-care too many times, think again. Because more postpartum moms continue to enter your sales funnel from many different content sources.

So, here are a few subjects relating to postpartum self-care you could use:

  • “Plan ahead for self-care.” Tell your audience to create a plan that allows you a schedule for self-care. If this sounds “extra,” it’s not.

  • “Give yourself grace.” Sometimes, we are the hardest on ourselves. Encourage your audience to give themselves grace.

  • “Give yourself time.” Encourage your audience to let go of the comparison game.

  • “Set clear boundaries.” Tell your audience that setting boundaries is a form of self-care too. Give a few examples of how and when they could express these boundaries.

Building Support

You understand the power of support.

Maybe your business thrives on postpartum mom support. I know many do! Many postpartum services exist now that didn’t even 10 years ago.

Because of businesses like yours… we’ve come a long way. And it makes me thankful I’m a young mom during this era of giving much-needed support to postpartum moms.

It’s completely life-changing.

So, let’s dive into a few topics you could incorporate into your content that have to do with building support:

  • Building communities of support. Encourage your audience to reach out to their people. Or make a point to find their people so they feel prepared for the postpartum season.

  • Quality courses or online communities. Tell them there are quality courses and online communities out there (even if they are not yours).

  • Accepting support. After they find support, tell them to accept the support. This can be the hardest part for some.

Emotions

Emotions play a big role during the postpartum season.

Emotions could be one of the main things that drive moms to your business. They are usually in the thick of something difficult and look to the internet for answers.

Luckily, you’re there to help them! You’re an authentic, loving brand that truly cares for postpartum moms. You aren’t looking to take advantage of them. You’re looking to show up for them, exactly when they need it.

And that’s the power of good marketing.

That’s the power of conscious, authentic copy.

That’s the power of actually useful, relevant content.

So, here are a few content ideas for postpartum moms experiencing deep, difficult emotions.

In your copy, consider using phrases like…

  •  “We’ve been there.” This tells your audience that you have experience in this area. You’ve been around the block.

  • “You’re not alone.” Your audience is feeling alone right now. They want to know someone is out there to help them.

  • “This is hard.” Validation is powerful. Sometimes, your audience of postpartum moms needs permission to feel. Especially when they've been trying to press their emotions down.

  • “It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing.” An all-or-nothing mindset can really put a wrench in the postpartum season. Many moms run into this mindset! So, if your content combats this way of thinking, it will add value.

  • “In ________ season.” Phases of motherhood/parenting come in seasons. Emphasizing this as a season in their life can encourage them to think about how this will not last forever.

Recovery

During the postpartum season, recovery is paramount.

You know this.

And your audience may know this too.

But unfortunately, we still live with a “bounce-back” culture. Meaning, that many new moms are susceptible to believing they need to “bounce back” in a small amount of time.

While you’re creating content for your audience, it’s okay to address this. In fact, it'll work in your favor to battle "bounce-back culture" and use your product or service as a solution.

To gain more perspective on “bounce-back” culture, I recently interviewed Lauren Fitter, owner of Lauren Fitter Fitness.

She is a personal trainer, but after becoming a mom, she shifted her career focus. Now, she creates extremely valuable, easy-to-follow workouts on her fitness YouTube channel. She has perfect workouts just for moms. (It’s definitely worth checking out)

But I’ll get to my point…

After speaking with Lauren...

She gave me some amazing ideas to approach recovery when communicating with postpartum moms.

Here are a few of Lauren’s tips for postpartum moms:

  • Take rest as rest. Encourage your audience to be intentional about rest. It’s harder for some than others.

  • Don’t rush. Remind your audience of moms that rushing recovery won’t help anyone. It may hurt them in the long run.

  • Movement over exercise. (This is my favorite). Encourage them to move. They don’t need to do a difficult exercise routine to start. Maybe they can manage to go walking for 15 minutes. Remind them that this is enough!

  • Allow for optimal healing. Tell them their internal wound from giving birth needs plenty of time to heal. Their timeline for healing might look different than other moms. (Also remind them: If this wound was on the outside, the rest of the world would say, “Take your time!”)

Such wise, simple advice!

Be Consistent

Keep these idea "buckets" in mind as you create content for your audience of postpartum moms!

And remember:

Be consistent.

Content creation is most effective when done consistently. So, don't give up. Create a schedule for yourself, and reach out for writing help if you need it.
